Pioneer's Gold
A hoppy pale ale that you may even mistake for an IPA, but at the same time is somewhat like lager. Pioneer’s Gold is an American style pale ale.
16th of January 1920, The Volstead Act is passed in congress leading to a prohibition on all alcohol. The result of years of campaigning by Temperance Unions effectively killed all legal brewing. Although the act didn’t last it changed the face of brewing in America. For some time only larges brewers could survive, only producing lagers while eating up the smaller breweries.
It wasn’t till 1976 that smaller breweries started to come back, they started to produce a huge range of drinks and as of 2015 over 4,000 breweries were recorded. In a very American way excess is the name of the game, as hoppy and alcoholic leading to very unique and flavourful brews.
Pioneer’s Gold should come out about 6%, don’t worry if yours is slightly different so long as it tastes good.
